I remember way back during what...the first Starcon2 installment I thought that I'd just skim for important dialogue to try and keep the number of caps down. Then by the end of it I was screencapping every single thing ever. I AM DOING THE SAME NOW I am talking to everyone AND SCREENCAPPING EVERYTHING ANYONE SAYS and then going back and talking to them again after I do things TO MAKE SURE I DON'T MISS ANYTHING what's wrong with me. Anyway, judging from how the first three towns have gone, it looks like I'm averaging about 1400 for each town. I'm not sure what that'll add up to by the end of this but probably a heck of a lot. Maybe even more than Starcon2! That one went up to like 5000 screencaps I think. Haha good thing they're small.
Ah, here we are! LET'S GO HOME EVERYBOODDAAAAYYYY
Actually first, the Onett theme! One of the more recognizable little ditties and one of my favorites. Just so happy. Tadaah
And a goofy little rock remix of it called Eagleland ROCKS!!!!
And actually, STILL there's another song that started here. It's an ominous fanfare that you will come to know well...Say FUZZY PICKLES!
THAT MAN JUST PLUM FELL RIGHT OUT OF THE SKY
Ness is into it.
Well son of a buck that just flew right up there
Home again! The theme that plays in Ness's home is Pollyanna, which I am way, way, way too attached to for way too many reasons. I've babbled about it before though. I LOVE Pollyanna SO MUCH. SO MUCH. One of my favorite tracks from the game.
Ness's Humble Home, the game track
Pollyanna, the version with words done for a special CD
Home Again, the Bound Together remix that always makes me want to cry
Happier version from a rerelease of the Mother 1+2 soundtracks. EarthBound in Japanese = Mother 2 if I didn't mention that before.
It's okay, you don't have to if you don't want to. :<
You can imagine the hilarious scenarios that can come from thinking of different foods. PERSONALLY, I HAVE NOT DONE SUCH THINGS
The best part about going home is that you can stay there for free! :D
You earn yourself money by battling. God knows where Ness's dad gets it all though. HE PUTS IN LONG HOURS WORKING...WHEREVER HE IS. STEALING FROM POKEY'S DAD.
Not bad, not bad.
Mmhmm LET'S MOVE ON
BRAVE NEW HORIZONS
I can get behind this message.
TEAR DOWN THE FOURTH WALL
That'll be useful, I bets.
wtf kind of power-tripping library is this
Fun fact: I always get x and y mixed up on a SNES controller.
Works for all towns you ever go to ever!
Mmm, everything's clearly marked.
Yuk yuk yuk
HELLO MAN IN SHYGUY/JASON MASK
I must come back later.
this can be annoying, btw
WAIT TIL WE GET TO PEACEFUL REST VALLEY BUDDY
Stare at the wall. STARE AT IT.
I DON'T WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU, BUT YES THEY DO
Written by someone's evil twin
Fun fact: almost all the hotel phones are black, and the drug store ones are green. There are exceptions but generally it goes by that rule.
It's true! Watch your cash!
cough you recover 20 PP points cough
I don't know why but this makes me laugh way too hard
DO NOT OGLE ME
Huh, usually that kind of thing leads to some lame minigame (cough ZELDA cough)
In we go!
Where'd Ness's sudden reputation for bravery come from?
PAULA AIN'T INTERESTED
Odd thing for a kid to say, won't you?
STOP THAT GIGGLING OUT THERE
Ooo, six point increase.
I love how Ness can just talk to animals. IT'S ALL THAT PSI POWER.
This can be REALLY useful later on. Green swirls can save you time by giving you an instant victory, and red swirls can turn a battle you'd normally win into a nightmare.
DO NOT FALL INTO THE STEP
So I need to acquire a keeey
It's true, the hotel is like 50$ a night.
If there's a billboard it mighta progressed past rumor. Just a thought.
Just for any entertainer who happens to stop by? How thoughtful.
When you're strong enough, instead of popping you into battle, the enemy will just disappear and you'll get a YOU WIN message. This is REALLY convenient, especially if you're powerleveling cause it saves you some time.
I'm not sure if I put up the right one before, but here's the battle music that plays when you attack dogs and crows and stuff. When Animals Attack!
WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT
I like how I'm standing right on top of them to read the sign.
THANK YOU, RANDOM GENTLEMAN
She can set fires WITH HER MIND
Drug store! All drug stores look pretty much the same, and they all have the same jaunty little theme song. Like so! Buy Somethin', Will Ya!
Also fun, the Bound Together remix The Drug Store has Sparks
And from that Mother 1+2 CD, a cute rendition of it called Humoresque of a Little Dog. What an odd title.
Calling your mom can be very important. More on that as it comes up.
This can be misleading at times, cause sometimes a weapon that looks like it's better will have a side-effect, like it's not very accurate. You just gotta pick and choose as they come.
No I didn't sell my teeball bat for a slingshot then backtrack a town to get it back what are you talking about
QUITE A SELECTION
That is not cheap.
And they even buy your old weapons automatically! No hoarding your old weapons for some insane dungeon where everything's backwards cough FF9 cough
I love that font.
Fries = about 25 HP, Burgers = about 40 I think.
GARBAGE BURGERS, MY FAVORITE.
uh thanks, random guy.
Just trailed off, didn't have the energy to finish the rest of the billboard.
Hee hee, hint guy. OH YEAH I totally forgot, the music that plays when you're in someone else's house is Friendly Neighbors. Although I think for the Hint Guy it's the music from Pokey and Picky's house. Let me check. Nah...eh I can't find it. MAYBE IT'S THE FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR TRACK. MOVING ON.
His hints are legit, by the way. I've never bought one though, I don't think.
BOTH but mostly the second one
CLOSE THEM ALL, ALL OF THEM CLOSE THEM NOW
i stole his hat
Oh yeah I forgot about that. Woops!
Just give me some time and I'll clean the place up, just watch!
More inane anchor banter please
Sorry, 35 dollars, my mistake. 50 is Twoson I think.
All hotels have the same song. It's this kind of...rhumba? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's super catchy. :D
Enjoy Your Stay!
Here's the OC Remix Hotel Rhumba (I Want To Go Home) which is nice
Hotel (Pearl Necklace) from the Mother 1+2 CD
Pesky hoodlums keep breaking in and stealing the sheets
Thank you for your concern, doggie!
no he isn't
He's got branches all over Eagleland!
It's a vicious cycle.
WHO ARE YOU
well they ARE hatless
I'm pretty sure this method has been proven ineffective over time, but don't quote me on that.
THEY LIVE IN A BOX, IS WHAT I'M SAYING. I FEED THEM THROUGH A HOLE IN THE BOX.
eyes on the prize blond man
::leaves fandom, deletes journal::
GO AHEAD AND TRY
You should get that looked at.
I'LL BE BACK
THEY CAN ROT IN THE HOSPITAL FOR ALL I CARE REALLY. I'M OLD.
You must be related to that other guy!
I'M COMING IN
Slowly working my way down as you can see.
I'm ON my way!
I'm betting it's not easy at all.
Is this house a ripoff? WHAT DO YOU THINK, AUDIENCE?
The Haunting Melody
And for bonus fun, set over the Onett theme, as you hear it in the game!
Hospital! Has some...clean sounding theme? I don't know how to phrase it really. Like the hotel and drugstore, it has a similar theme through every town. Not all of them, but most of them.
Uh...yeah! All the time!
So annoying, seriously.
Talk to him instead.
He charges an arm and a leg too.
Nursey's feelin it
I'M ON TO YOU, DR. WRIGHT.
Old lady friends. I might watch that.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT TERM
I JUST HAVE THIS NEED TO TALK TO EVERYONE EVER
Aha, a Shark!
Shark attack music! Skateboards and hula hoops
I'LL GET YOU FOR THAT
There's a SMAAAAAAAASH! I can never remember how many A's are in that. Anyway, it's basically a critical hit. It happens more often the higher your guts are, or if you're wielding certain weapons.
HURRAY that's still not that great exp though
Aha, there's Frank! Lounging around with his robot. I'll teach him what for.
By the way, if an enemy sees you they'll chase you, and they almost ALWAYS move faster than you.
OW DARN IT
Blah blah leveling blah blah
Magic butterfly! Indispensable later on.
Ooo, big increase.
And now I can call them whenever to pick up stuff for me! This is very important.
Hahahahahaha I love this game
Lucky sandwichs restore HP/PP in random amounts. They also cost a fortune. No thanks.
I mean look at that. That's ridiculous.
Just wait until the CRAZY TAXIS GET YOU
I then tried to talk to him a bunch to see if I could make him angry but he didn't go for it. Dang.
CLOSE DOWN ALL THE ROADS, CLOSE THEM DOWN NOW
You can't really see it here, but I love that one sprite because he looks like he's constantly rolling his eyes. Hehehe.
JAIL IS TOO GOOD FOR THE LIKES OF YOU
no i don't know what you're talking about
I KNEW IT
They're right you know.
And we have our goal!
With my new bracelet, I'm invincible! Haha!
Mmm, garbage juice.
NO DON'T BOUNCE ON ME
Ooo, that is totally worth it.
I'm actually eating pizza right now, trufax.
GOTCHA BY SURPRISE
Awesome, those can get expensive after a while.
Cool, Sharks are worth a bunch then.
Arcade time! With some blippy music!
HA BEAT YOU UP TOO. AND STOLE YOUR LUNCH.
Surprisingly enough, this one didn't attack me.
Up we go!
Why isn't this guy in uniform?
I'M GONNA BLOW IT UP INSTEAD
Hee hee hee hee
This is the kind of thing I'd want to do if I was some generic thug in a movie.
Anyway beat him up.
Then he attacked. But I defeated him handily!
Franky's just chillin.
I kinda messed up capping this, sorry.
BACK ON TRACK
Franky's got some rockin music
OW OH JESUS
Man I hope this works.
The precarious balance between life and death relies on this burger here.
Well that wasn't that bad.
Frank seems surprisingly mellow about all this.
Aaaa double boss battle
Ouch! That's not too bad though.
Steam, punch, steam, punch. Easy pattern!
Before it dies it charges into you like so here. I was lucky I healed the turn before.
The Sanctuary Guardian! Always irritating.
All things considered Frank handled that really well.
Usually after you do something major people will say different things. IT'S ALWAYS WORTHWHILE TO CHECK
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED YES
I didn't burn down that giant ant for the insurance money
sure, why not. give me the key
FINE, I'M LEAVING THEN
Leveled up a bit beforehand...
And what lies beyond, in the cave of the Giant Step? How big is that ant anyway? Will I get a beatdown, or will my obsessive overleveling save the day? TUNE IN NEXT TIME!
