Day of the Tentacle

Made by LucasArts, released in 1993

The Quest for the Disguise

Current Zar note: I did this LP in 2006! I left my write-up mostly unchanged.

I just realized that I forgot to put up the music for Laverne's scenario. You may notice that Laverne has a fairly distinct theme. I think all of the kids do, but I notice Laverne's the easiest.

Tentacle Jail

There we go. Let's get cracking!

I wish I could get some clean sprites of Laverne in her default pose and stuff. Ah well.

THE VERY IDEA

Hahaha I'M FREE

I always wondered how that guard tentacle moved his springy chair out there. Eh, who knows.

Aha, the Chron-o-John! Just what I need for dissection lab tomorrow

Our key problem! Getting that generator hooked up the Laverne's Chron-o-John.

>D

Aww.

My brilliant plan is set in motion.

Heh, I found out you can just harrass Betsy Ross.

I THINK THAT'D BE A GREAT FLAG.

Hahahaa

This is her only response. OH WELL.

hehehehe

HAIL TO THE HOAGIE

ROCK and Stripes!

I love that line.

Hehehe

Classy!

I'd support that.

Hehehe

Yeah!

Alright, enough harrassing Betsy. Let's get this plan into motion!

Aha! My tentacle costume awaits!

>D

Aww.

Back to the jail with me!

You can do this as many times as you want. :D

All the kids can go up and down the fireplace, if there's nothing blocking the way. Up we go!

FRICK I forgot something.

I can't get to the flag without a crank for the crank box. DARN IT. Now I'm gonna hafta jump around some more to get it to Laverne. Time to visit Bernard in the present!

You're the only one that thinks so, Bernard, as we'll see later on.

I dunno if I put up the music for this era yet, so

More than just a nervous compulsion! Although I wonder why Red did it too. Maybe he also drank coffee.

D:

Edna exotic dancing. Brr.

Hahaha I don't know why Fred saying that amuses me so much. What is with my fascination with mad scientists?

Bernard's quest!

Hahahahaaaaaa

I love this game.

Fun fact - there actually was a Maniac Mansion TV show. No, I am dead serious. It was loosely based on the game. I don't know much about it since I never saw it, but I know it existed. I didn't know about this until I started doing this Screencap Adventure and I was looking up info. Weird!

In case you were wondering about that.

In time, you say?

Maniac Mansion! An insanely difficult old PC game. It's actually included with Day of the Tentacle, in case you want to give it a try. You can also just download a graphic-enhanced version here.

I don't know why but I love it when games like this break the fourth wall. Even if it's just for plugs for other games by the same company. It just amuses me way too much.

Hahahahahaa

The logical solution!

Nerdboy speaks truth!

Hee hee, enormous.

I love Dr. Fred.

I love the little tm.

I love this game so much.

Newsflash!

hee hee hee.

Hee hee.

And we have our mission!

I want a mug that says that.

Pff.

Chuck the Plant shows up in a lot of LucasArts games. Keep an eye out for him.

Clowns. Brr.

I need to rip the animation of this, cause it's great.

I'LL GET YOU, OOZO.

Grate!

Look familiar? Hehehe, he has the same voice as Franklin.

Cigar Salesman has his own theme too.

CLOWN PARTY

I TRUST YOU IMPLICITLY

Oh one of those handguns

I will get you, cigar man.

Hey, chattering teeth!

I'LL GET YOU

And that's why I opened that grate.

BWAHAHAHAHAAA

This line has haunted me my entire life. Everytime I look at a fork, I hear Bernard saying this. It still makes me smile.

HMM, WHAT TO DO WITH THESE.

More on the microwave later, when we meet Weird Ed.

Aha, the room that's stayed the same.

Except there's something in here now!

You're weird, Bernard.

Heehehehehehehehehehee no it serves no purpose

That should do it for now. Next up, exploring the present with Bernard and grabbing that crank!
